Kings XI Punjab hosted newcomers Gujarat Lions who were making their Indian Premier League debut at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on 11th April, 2016.

Gujarat Lions captain Suresh Raina won the toss and elected to bowl. Batting first, Kings XI Punjab posted a total of 161 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. The Lions need 162 runs to win.

West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo was sensational in GL’s debut as he notched up four wickets for just 22 runs in his splendid spell of 4 overs, operating at an economy rate of 5.50. The 32-year-old from Trinidad became the first bowler in Twenty20 history to notch up 300 wickets. Bravo has 109 wickets to his name in 92 matches in the IPL while the talismanic Windies cricketer has 302 wickets in 292 matches in T20 overall. Bravo took the crucial wickets of Kings skipper David Miller, Glen Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Kings wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

Bravo was influential for the Gujarat Lions in their IPL debut just like a ‘CHAMPION’.
