Kings XI Punjab openers Manan Vohra and Murali Vijay got their teams off to a flier as they put on a partnership of 78 runs in just 50 balls. Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh raina won the toss and chose to bowl first as the conditions would suit the seamers first up on a green wicket

Praveen Kumar bowled a good first over for Gujarat Lions getting the ball to seam and swing and creating all kinds of trouble for the batsmen. However, he did not get able support from the other end that allowed the KXIP openers to open up their arms.

First it was Murali Vijay who played all kinds of classical copybook shots- from cover drives to straight ones. Vijay had raced away to 30 odd runs quickly when his partner Vohra was just on 8*. However Later on Vohra joined the party as well taking leggie Sarabjit Ladda to the cleaners.

Vohra smacked Ladda for a cracking six down the ground in the 8th over and was looking good for a big innings. Earlier he got a life when Dwayne Bravo missed a catch at deep mid-wicket off Faulkner’s bowling. Even Murali Vijay got one life when Karthik was late in stumping him off Ladda’s bowling.

Vohra and Vijay’s partnership was cut short on 78 when Ravindra Jadeja got Vohra caught behind for 38(23) after getting smacked for a six of the previous delivery in the ninth over.
