After failing to live up to expectations in the Asia Cup Twenty20 2016 and World Twenty20 2016, Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis stepped down, subsequently Shahid Afridi also resigned as captain, after his leadership ended in Pakistan’s dismal performance.
Pakistan has opted to hand the captaincy to Sarfaraz Ahmed while the Pakistan Cricket Board is still searching for a candidate to take over as the national team’s head coach.
Amidst all the controversy, Vinod Kambli has put his name into consideration by tweeting to Pakistani journalist Asma Shirazi.
Kambli has no prior experience in coaching, if this unlikely request turns fruitful then this would be the first time that an India would coach the Pakistan cricket team. It will certainly be interesting to see how Pakistan and PCB react to Kambli’s interest.
