'Vardy Vale' : Leicester mayor wants to rebrand streets in honour of their title-chasing stars

Leicester City mayor Peter Soulsby revealed his plans to honour the players and manager Claudio Ranieri by renaming the city streets after them, should they emerge the crowned champions at the end of the season.

He also assures that any such move would include the entire team rather one or two individuals. “It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road,” said the pleased Mayor.

This is not the first time Leicester City has honoured its sportsmen with re-branded street names. The former Barcelona player Gary Lineker who started his career at the hometown club Leicester City has a street named after him.

And there is more as the mayor assures that any celebration upon winning the title would largely dwarf the 2014 gathering at the Town Hall Square which brought together about 10,000 Leicester supporters to celebrate Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League.
