Everyone loves a Twitter beef – but when they’re between two organisations rather than two people, they’re somehow even more fun.
The latest one we’ve spotted might be the oddest yet – it’s between Russian side Zenit St Petersburg and the Daily Mail. Yes, really.
It all started when the Mail selected Zenit in a list of its top 10 worst badges in football. The response was withering in the extreme.

Shots, as they say, fired.
The Mail struck a conciliatory tone in its own response.
.@zenit_spb Sorry guys, we just preferred your old one (and you did win the UEFA Cup wearing it) pic.twitter.com/UtDWhtiiuR

But it turned out two could play at that game.

In Twitterland, of course, the Mail is pretty much the pantomime villain, so there’s no prizes for guessing what the masses made of it all.

So, while Zenit may have lost out to Benfica in the last 16 of the Champions League, they can console themselves with the knowledge that they won Twitter.
