When you’re a working jockey it’s hard to find time to fit mundane things in to your schedule like, for example, going to Buckingham Palace to collect an MBE.
In fact AP McCoy was so busy when he was made an MBE, he never actually made it to the palace at all.
It was something the Queen clearly didn’t forget several years later when he was made an OBE – as the jockey makes clear in this video.
McCoy also gives his thoughts on the Grand National and what scared him as a jockey – as well as giving a spirited rendition of the Killers’ Mr Brightside.
The video is the second part of an Inside Track Interview from Great British Racing. Part One, if you missed it, saw McCoy nearly get arrested…
The Crabbie’s Grand National takes place on Saturday April 9, live on Channel 4 at 5.15pm.
