The Vikings take on Phoenix DFC in the first game of the day and they will definitely be playing for more than just pride. Goal difference aside, they are only a point behind second place Panthers FC. Vikings are also only a point ahead of The Phoenix Project. Phoenix DFC will look for a repeat performance from Rohit Ghosh. While The Vikings are a tougher team to go up against, Phoenix DFC like all 8 weekends before will play their heart out. Unless the Vikings defense commits a blunder we are unlikely to see any goals from PDFC. The Vikings are coming back into action after a 2-week break thanks to last weekend’s walkover. Needless to say, the Vikings are expected to score at will here.
Mavericks FC celebrated Navratan Singh’s return to the squad with a draw last weekend. Mavs have an excellent chance of finishing the league in the top 5 and should ideally utilize this game to rack up some goal difference. The outcome could be very different from the prediction depending on who the Guerrillas put in their starting 11. While we take nothing away from the team’s caliber, Guerrilla might have to deliver an above par performance to avoid finish at the bottom of the league.
Pundits at Jasola are calling the match of the day. With the Fuegos moving up the table last weekend, and playing exceptionally good football we are expecting some fireworks around 11.30! Flying Pundits, barely managing a draw, would be rather disappointed after their outing last weekend. The game will be decided in the midfield and Max and Yumbi will have a lot to do with their respective teams. Both teams are expected to play full lines ups and deliver on demand. Simon Kuany for the Pundits and Pranav for En Fuegos will not be out of action. Let’s just hope Captain Nid and his men steer away from the cards and play some good clean football.
The Phoenix Project have found their rhythm again and will look at this game to capitalize on their momentum and improve their rank on the leaderboard. Warriors FC is the only team which lost rank after the games last weekend. It’s been a tough league for them, offensive plays have not been planned and Captain Shivam will have to look at adding fresh talent to the squad to make a dent from here on. Warriors may also benefit from an increased number of passes as ball possession has been an area of major concern. The match as such is for the Phoenix Project to lose and we would be very surprised if the Warriors are able to stop the lobs from reaching Sanil!
We are still looking for one major upset here. We are still looking for one team to crack the code with Chronic FC. Alas, this might not be the game where things change. In2Sports FC did incredibly well last weekend to hold the Pundits for a draw and will hope for even better performance. On the other hand, Chronic FC, much like the champions that they are, swept past Panthers FC to move closer to the league title. With the temperatures usually at their hottest around, this time, both teams may not super aggressive. The men in pink have found their anthem and while In2Sports FC is no pushover, we will still witness “another one bite the dust”. To the optimistic, we give you In2Sports an outside chance, if Tenzin and Akash can oust the best team in the league with their speed.
The last game of the day has the potential to be a well-fought encounter if NightsWatch FC can stand up defensively. Hopefully, they saw Panthers FC go down last weekend and learned more than just a thing or two. Meanwhile, there might be some panic in the Panthers’ dressing room after a complete breakdown in team dynamics this past Saturday. With the 2nd spot in mind, Panthers will look to come back to winning ways and cement their standing. Both teams have very different styles of play, and we are forced to wonder if tact can outdo speed and cause an upset!
