After annihilating New Zealand 3-0 in the recently concluded test series, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has dismissed claims that the team’s success was mainly due to pitches which were tailor-made for spin.
Incidentally India’s most successful off-spinner in tests, Harbhajan Singh had tweeted earlier about the nature of ‘rank turners’ and also claimed his and Anil Kumble’s stats would be have been different had they been offered such spin friendly pitches.
Already looks like 2 days old pitch before the 1st bowl is bowled..my predictions match won't go more then 3 and half days.. https://t.co/obn4qVRnP6

Ironically the three pitches in the three tests were different from each other, especially the Eden Gardens one which assisted the seamers. Even the Indore strip was quite good for batting on Day 4 as shown by Cheteshwar Pujara and Gautam Gambhir.
Only 2 in my 103 tests.. Kumble and my test wicket count would have been something else if we got wickets like last 4 years we playing on? https://t.co/fvkdVw1I1v

Kohli seemed quite astonished by Bhajji’s comments but refrained from taking his name while speaking on the same.
“See even if it is a turning pitch you have to bowl well. Spin is about how many revs you impart off the shoulder first. And then the ball will do something off the pitch,” Kohli said.
Kohli also seemed to suggest that the Indian spinners were not getting the respect and appreciation they deserved.
“I quite clearly remember after we lost to New Zealand in the World T20, suddenly their spinners were quality and we were found out. I don't see anyone talking about that now. The same spinners have played. Why have they not been able to pick wickets? It is as simple as that. Our fast bowlers picked wickets everywhere."
