Lille travelled to the Parc de Princes to face a resurgent PSG side flying high at the top of the Ligue 1 table. The odds were heavily in favour of PSG, on course to extend the 31 game home unbeaten streak. PSG clearly dominating the game, however failure to convert chances into goals meant the spoils were shared.
Blaise Matuidi captained the home team and this game also marked the return of Javier Pastore. Some early chances for PSG, Jean Kevin Augusten and Cavani coming close only to be denied by opposition goalie, Enyeama. Angel Di Maria looked in good touch delivering dangerous crosses inside the box repeatedly. For Lille just a shot off target and a corner in the first 25 minutes of the game, not a great start. Some wonderful play by Javi Pastore in the 35th minute, first delivering a deadly cross in the box and then 2 minutes later unleashing a long range shot, just wide of the post. Chances here and there for PSG, not much for Lille it stood 0-0 at the 45’ mark.
A half-time change for the home team, Marco Verratti on for Javier Pastore. As the second half progessed, some more changes for PSG, Di Maria and Cavani coming close. Florent Balmont of Lille with a cheeky attempt easily picked off by PSG goalie Trapp. Still goalless at the 1 hour mark. Substitution for the home team in the 63rd minute, Di Maria off, Lucas Moura on. Immediately into the action, Moura shoots from long range but not good enough to go in. Injury to Lille player Sebastien Corchia in the 75th minute led to a forced substitution, Benjamin Pavard on. Some late chances for PSG, Cavani’s shot on target, Moura attempting a scissor kick and a Marquinhos header almost finding the back of the net. Their last best chance in the 95th minute, Lucas Moura attempting a long range shot, deflected off one of the Lille back 4.
PSG held to a draw by Lille, a good result for Lille whose away form hasn’t been good this season. PSG would’ve liked to win coming close on numerous occasions but it wasn’t meant to be.
