India has a problem with the resources in wicket-keeping: Saba Karim

The former Indian wicket-keeper lashed out at the critics questioning MS Dhoni's place in the side and feels that he should continue till the 2019 World Cup.

Saba Karim who was a part of the recently reiterated selection panel feels that captaincy had nothing to do with MS Dhoni's place in the side and said that he was an important figure in the team.

Karim feels that MS Dhoni completely deserved the spot in the playing XI.

"I don't know why and how this perception has come up that Dhoni can't be a part of the team if he doesn't have his captaincy. His fitness levels have certainly gone up," said Karim in an interview to Times of India.

He added that the current set of selectors need to have a vision and start planning for the 2019 World Cup in England. Karim felt that there is a dearth of wicketkeeping talent in the country and felt that his generation of wicketkeepers was lost with Dhoni playing for so long.

He felt that KL Rahul should don the gloves in the shorter formats in the future attributing his excellent skills with the gloves while adding that he is satisfied with the way Dhoni has been keeping.

"There is a problem with the resources, especially in wicketkeeping. Wriddhiman Saha is just growing into his job in Tests. But in limited-overs, Rahul looks good to don the gloves," said Karim.
