The super 10 stage campaign of ICC World twenty20, 2016 will start from IST 7.30 PM today. In the Group 2 fixture, host- India- will face New Zealand in Nagpur. Both the teams are in superb form, they are among the expected finalists of this mega tournament. However India will certainly be the favourite for the match due to the advantage of playing in Home condition.
Here, let us take a look at the pitch condition for today’s big match and what can we expect from it: The Nagpur pitch curator faced severe criticism from the cricketing world and even a warning from the ICC in last November, when the third test between India and South Africa ended just in three days due to the extra spin-friendly track. However, there is no such concern for today’s match. The track is set to be more batting-friendly and we can expect a High Scoring Match. Before this Match, India and New Zealand has faced each other for 4 times, where India has never emerged as victorious. But as India will have the benefit of Home condition, there will be a high possibility that the men in blues will register their first Twenty20 win against Kiwis.
Both the teams will be high on confidence; India has only lost one Twenty20 internationals in their last 10 outings, while New Zealand is also in a similar form, winning 4 out of their last 5 matches. However, both the team has lost one of their two respective warm-up games. Where the loss against South Africa was certainly a wakeup call for team India, New Zealand ended up exposing their inability to play spin in their defeat against England. As far as the teams are concerned, both the teams pose a very strong batting and bowling line. Almost all the batsman of India are in good forms, including Rohit, Raina and Dhawan. These three have been struggling a bit latel,y but their performances in the warm-up games were superb and will certainly bring more positive energy to the Indian dressing-room. The bowling has been great for team India for the last couple of tournaments. However, the game against South Africa exposed that there is still some vulnerability. But the good news is- Mohammad Shami looks fit, who has bagged 2 wickets against South Africa. On the other hand, New Zealand will miss the aggressive captaincy of the recently-retired Brendon McCullum. The Team led by Kane Williamson is also looking quite strong. In Batting, along with the skipper himself, the New Zealand team possess a number of explosive batsmen like Guptil, Grant Eliott, Corey Anderson, Ross Taylor, and the new sensation Colin Munro, who can single-handedly turn the match into their favour. In bowling, they have the pace battery of world class bowlers like Southee, Boult and Adam Milne. The spin attack is competent enough to contain runs in the middle overs and give the team the timely breakthroughs . New Zealand also enjoys the presence of a good number of all-rounders in their team. The Spin duo of India, R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, along with Yuvraj and Raina, are well aware of New Zealand’s weakness in playing spin and they will certainly try to exploit it. New Zealand will also try to outdo India in every department and will try to maintain their winning streak against India. Here is the complete squad of both the Teams
India MS Dhoni (c)(wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli (vc), Mohammed Shami, Pawan Negi, Ashish Nehra, Hardik Pandya, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh.
New Zealand Kane Williamson (C), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill, Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan, Nathan McCullum, Colin Munro, Henry Nicholls, Luke Ronchi, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee and Ross Taylor
Both of the teams will try to start their world cup campaign in a winning note. We can expect a very good contest between the teams in front of a crowd-packed stadium of Nagpur.
