World T20: Wounded India looks to break Pakistan’s jinx at Eden Gardens

The much-awaited match of the World T20 – India vs Pakistan T20 match is just a few hours away from now. Coming out of a defeat in the opening match, India will play a do-or-die match against Pakistan at Eden Gardens, on Saturday.

History of Eden Gardens

The largest stadium in India and second largest in the world after Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, Eden Garden was established in 1864 and has a capacity of 66000 spectators. However, the much anticipated match looks under weather threat as contant rains have kept the outfield wet. With a precipitation of 68 percent and 84 percent humidity, there are chances of rain and heavy storm from the afternoon as well.

Indo-Pak last meet at Eden

Pakistan last defeated India by 85 runs at Eden Gardens, in an ODI match in 2013. From the current squad, Mohammad Hafeez (76) and Shoaib Malik (24) powered their victory whereas Ravindra Jadeja (3/41), Ravichandran Ashwin (1/49) and Suresh rains (1/13) pushed India’s case forward to the fightback. In the batting department, Indian skipper MS Dhoni remained unbeaten for highest 58 runs but couldn’t find strong support in Virat Kohli (6), Yuvraj Singh (9) and Suresh Raina (18).
