Let’s take our minds back to this day in 2003. India met Pakistan in the cricket World Cup at the SuperSport Park in Centurian. The 22,000 watching in attendance and the millions watching at home had no idea how special a day it would turn out to be.
Pakistan, batting first set a score of 273 with Saeed Anwar scoring a century – the last of his International career. The Pakistani bowlers would have hoped to easily defend the target with bowlers like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, although at their twilight of their careers and a young fiery Shoaib Akhtar.
But what was about to follow was a Sachin Masterclass, not for the first time if I may add. The shots he played that day are still fresh in the minds of every Indian. Relive that breathtaking innings in the video below.
India won the match by 6 wickets with 26 balls remaining but it will always be remembered as the match when Sachin Tendulkar hit that six off Shoaib Akhtar.
